Food waste is collected on site and separated by staff. This separation includes removing contaminants such as cutlery, shells or husks to ensure the efficiency of the machine.
Once collected, food waste is transported from the kitchen to the Biofeed machine in a convenient location.
Food waste is processed into a semi solid liquid inside the Biofeed machine before being pumped into a holding tank, with each cycle taking only 35 seconds! The Biofeed reduces the volume of food waste stored on site by mixing the food waste with water.
When the holding tank is nearly full, an automated email is sent to the waste service provider who will then collect the waste and pump it from the holding tank into their collection vehicle. Holding tanks are typically emptied every one to two weeks.
The organic matter can then be repurposed. It can be used as a feedstock for composting to generate biogas or for renewable energy generation.
The food waste has been successfully diverted from landfill and repurposed in a sustainably responsible manner. With the touch of a button, your business can reduce its carbon footprint as well as your operating costs.
